Job summary

Ashby in Amsterdam seeks a curious and problem-solving Platform Engineer to help enhance its recruitment software. In this role, you'll optimize and create tools for a DSL-to-SQL compiler, implement security measures for customer data, and contribute to the the architecture. Required qualifications include strong curiosity, ownership mentality, experience with SQL, and the ability to work independently. The position offers a competitive salary range from €141K to €226K, unlimited PTO, and generous parental leave.

• Obsessive curiosity about problems, willing to dig deep for solutions.
• Strong ownership mentality, comfortable making technical decisions and delivering end-to-end projects.
• Experience scaling infrastructure, automated provisioning, monitoring, and release processes.
• Comfortable with SQL, code reviews, and writing maintainable code.
• Preferably can work independently, as there are no project managers.

About the Role

We’re looking for a curious, rigorous, problem-hungry platform engineer (who codes!) to carry the ball as we bring Ashby to the big leagues. Ashby builds software that lets talent teams create an efficient, delightful, respectful hiring process. As an engineer, you will build a “paved road” that excellent engineering teams can safely use.

Responsibilities

• Optimize the homegrown ultra-dynamic recruiting DSL-to-SQL compiler and create tools to help developers use it.
• Create automated guardrails for the security and privacy of customer data.
• Help our developers ship features fast through canary deploys, gradual rollouts, and feature flags while keeping complexity manageable.
• Work with the business and engineering team to define SLOs and implement corresponding SLIs.
• Ensure all communication with external services supports retries and circuit-breakers.
• Implement the infrastructure to support an event‑driven architecture and a data warehouse.
