Job summary

Sendcloud in Eindhoven seeks a Staff Platform Engineer to own the technical direction for infrastructure and developer experience powering Europe’s leading e-commerce shipping platform. You’ll shape architecture for Foundation and Developer Platform, work with AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, and security controls, and mentor engineers across teams.

This is a destination role for senior engineers who want to stay hands-on while affecting strategy and outcomes.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on engineering experience in platform, infra, or SRE.
• Deep AWS expertise: EKS, VPC, IAM, RDS/Aurora, ElastiCache, S3, CloudFront, WAF, KMS, and Lambda.
• Production-grade Kubernetes with Helm, Karpenter, Envoy Gateway, KEDA, Kyverno, RBAC, and cluster operations at scale.
• Infrastructure as Code mastery: Terraform modules, composition, and state management, with scalable design.
• CI/CD and progressive delivery: GitLab CI, Argo CD, canary/blue-green, pipeline design, and lower change failure rate.
• Observability discipline: Datadog, SLOs/SLIs, dashboards, and elevating platform health.
• Security thinking: IAM hygiene, zero-trust, OAuth2/OIDC, audit logs, compliance readiness.
• Strong written and verbal English for ADRs and reviews.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the technical strategy for cross-cutting platform capabilities: infrastructure reliability, observability, progressive delivery, security controls, and developer tooling.
• Lead architectural decisions across Foundation and Developer Platform, ensuring alignment with business outcomes.
• Drive platform-wide standards for IaC, Kubernetes patterns, SLO/SLI baselines, observability, and security controls.
• Evaluate and own strategic technical decisions, including migrations and consolidations as needed.
• Proactively identify and remediate systemic technical debt impacting delivery risk.
