Job summary

Wand AI is building a greenfield product with a small, high‑caliber team. You will own the backend and data layer, make core architectural calls, and ship end-to-end for a customer-facing product. The role emphasizes genuine ownership, startup agility, and leveraging AI coding tools to accelerate delivery.

You will contribute across the stack, working in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift and decisions matter at the system level, not just implementation tasks.

Qualifications

  • Strong backend fundamentals with ability to make architectural decisions.
  • Frontend capability to ship features end-to-end when needed.
  • Experience building customer-facing products and understanding of internet-scale systems.
  • Technology-agnostic with history across multiple stacks.
  • Genuine ownership and ability to start from zero in a startup environment.
  • Fluency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code.

Responsibilities

  • Own backend architecture end-to-end for a greenfield product: design services, data model, and APIs from scratch.
  • Design data structures and system architecture for a customer-facing product built to scale.
  • Build and maintain backend services and APIs; contribute to frontend as needed.
  • Take end-to-end ownership: propose approach, defend it, then implement it.
  • Operate in an AI-driven workflow using Claude Code as a core part of shipping.
  • Navigate a small, fast-moving environment with shifting priorities and ambiguity.

Job description

Wand turns AI into labor. It enables humans and AI agents to operate together as a unified, hybrid workforce, with comprehensive management and oversight. And it’s already operating at scale inside some of the world’s largest organizations.

Wand built the world’s first Agentic Labor Infrastructure enabling governments and global enterprises to create, manage, and scale digital workforces.

Our mission is to integrate agent ecosystems into the core of work and business, unlocking a generational leap in the global economy. We’re building the infrastructure that lets humans and AI agents operate together safely, transparently, and at scale.

Join Wand in leading the Agentic Shift

Wand is building a high-performing global team who take full ownership of what they build. We lead by example, move fast, make data-aware decisions, and continuously push for more- always with a focus on delivering real value to customers.

You would be joining a world-class team that combines deep research expertise and real-world product execution, with experience spanning Deepmind, Google, Amazon, Miro, Elise AI, IBM and Accern.

Position Summary

Wandy is a brand new, greenfield product inside Wand. Small team, high technical bar, fully AI-driven SDLC, and nothing about it has been announced publicly yet. Every engineer on the team is full-stack and ships all parts of the product end to end.

We're hiring a backend-leaning full-stack engineer to own the backend and data layer of a greenfield, customer-facing product. This is genuine zero-to-one work: you'll make the core system-design calls, decide what to build and what to rethink, and then build it, with real architectural ownership rather than execution against a pre-set plan.

Role Responsibilities
  • Own backend architecture end to end for a greenfield product: design the services, data model, and APIs from scratch, decide what to keep and what to rethink, then build it.
  • Design data structures and system architecture for a customer-facing product built to scale, thinking through performance, reliability, and how the system behaves as usage grows.
  • Build and maintain backend services and APIs (we lean Go and Node.js, but we care far more about your track record than an exact stack match).
  • Contribute to the front-end as needed: every engineer here ships across the stack, so you should be comfortable building and reasoning about the UI even if backend is your focus.
  • Take true end-to-end ownership: propose the approach, defend it, then build it, without waiting for someone else to set the direction.
  • Build inside a fully AI-driven workflow, using tools like Claude Code as a core part of how you ship, not an occasional assist.
  • Operate comfortably in a small, fast-moving, ambiguous environment where priorities shift and you're often defining the "how," not just executing a pre-set plan.
Key Requirements
  • Strong backend fundamentals: databases, data structures, async programming, and system design, with the ability to make real architectural calls rather than implement someone else's design.
  • Comfortable across the stack: solid front-end ability, even with backend as your focus, so you can ship a feature end to end.
  • Real product sense: ideally built for real end users on a genuine customer-facing (B2C) product, with an understanding of how internet products actually work, not internal or B2B tooling only.
  • Technology agnostic: you've worked across multiple stacks before and can pick up whatever this team needs. We care about your track record more than your specific stack.
  • Genuine ownership: a history of starting things from zero, not just delivering on initiatives someone else already scoped.
  • Startup experience, ideally somewhere genuinely chaotic: comfortable with shifting priorities and ambiguous ownership. If you've only worked inside companies with clean roadmaps and clearly defined scope, this probably isn't the right fit.
  • Heavy, real fluency with AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code): you build with AI as a core part of your workflow, not an occasional assist.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience at a startup where you had to build something from scratch with little existing structure to lean on.
  • Deep backend build experience (e.g. Go, Node.js, or similar), designing and scaling services and data layers.
  • Comfortable on a small, high-caliber team with little process, ready to make architectural calls without a lot of hand-holding.
  • Front-end depth on a customer-facing product, so you can flex toward the UI when the team needs it.
