United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Staff/Senior AI Engineer to transform internal and open-weight models into production-ready coding agents for our users. You will work on model training, context engineering, tool use, evaluation, feedback loops, and product integration.

This role ships behaviors in real developer environments rather than research in isolation. You will collaborate with product managers, software engineers, ML engineers, and researchers to define technical direction

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience building LLM-powered products or AI systems.
• Experience improving model behavior via prompting, context engineering or post-training methods.
• Experience with evaluation and benchmarking for LLM systems.
• Experience working with noisy real-world signals.
• Good judgment on latency, reliability, privacy, and cost trade-offs.
• Ability to own direction amid ambiguity and iterate.
• Strong communication to align engineering and product decisions.

Responsibilities

• Build production-ready coding agents and agentic workflows inside company products.
• Turn model capabilities into dependable product behavior via prompting and fine-tuning when appropriate.
• Design and improve the agent loop, including tool use and safeguards.
• Create evaluation suites and data-driven release criteria for agent behavior.
• Implement feedback loops from real usage using logs and signals to improve data and models.
• Collaborate with product managers, software/ML engineers, and researchers to ship features end to end.
• Help define the technical direction for future work in ambiguous areas.
