Job summary

DataSnipper is seeking a Senior Applied AI Engineer to own the applied AI half of the Agent Runtime layer for Alwin, our audit and finance automation platform. You will shape base agents, memory, and context management for long-running tasks, choosing tool use and abstraction to handle edge cases efficiently.

You will work with auditor-facing products, partner teams, and runtime engineers on production-grade AI systems, evaluation, and cost-efficient strategies in a hybrid Amsterdam setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in production-grade environments.
• Experience shipping and operating an LLM-powered product in production and handling latency, hallucinations and failures.
• Hands-on experience building agentic systems: control loops, tool selection, planning vs execution.
• Experience with evaluation: building datasets, running offline/online experiments, using results to improve.
• Fluency with LLM APIs and agent frameworks across multiple providers.

Responsibilities

• Own the base agents: system prompt, memory, and state management for long-running tasks.
• Design tool usage and abstraction layers for document extraction, sandboxes, and integrations.
• Implement agentic patterns: sub-agents, planning modes, human-in-the-loop gates, routing across providers.
• Ship end-to-end from prototype to production on Alwin.
• Define automatic processes to improve the agent over time and optimize costs.
