About the job

The IT Business Analyst acts as the bridge between business stakeholders and platform delivery teams. The role is responsible for understanding business needs, analysing processes and data, defining business requirements, and translating demand into prioritized platform capabilities that deliver measurable business value. Working within a platform team, the Business Analyst supports continuous improvement, adoption, value realization, and informed decision-making throughout the solution lifecycle.

Main responsibilities
  • Strategy & Planning: Analyse business strategies, stakeholder needs, business processes, and performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation. Translate business demand into well-defined requirements, business cases, and platform initiatives, and support platform roadmap development, investment prioritization, and value-based decision-making. Contribute to the identification of cross-platform opportunities and the alignment of business analysis practices across Technology.

  • Delivery & Execution: Translate business demand into clear requirements, user stories, process models, acceptance criteria, and solution specifications. Support backlog refinement and prioritization activities, ensuring requirements are ready for delivery and aligned with business objectives.

  • Operational Excellence: Monitor business processes, platform adoption, customer journeys, operational performance, and user feedback to identify opportunities for optimization and improved business outcomes. Support incident and problem analysis by assessing business impact, identifying process improvements, and helping ensure services remain effective, efficient, and aligned with business needs.

  • Governance & Risk: Ensure requirements, process changes, and solution designs comply with business policies, regulatory obligations, audit requirements, and platform governance standards. Maintain high-quality analysis artefacts, requirements traceability, documentation standards, and decision records that support transparency, compliance, and effective delivery. Promote consistent business analysis methodologies, standards, and practices across platform teams.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement of business processes, customer journeys, and platform capabilities through analysis, value realization measurement, process optimization, and automation opportunities. Analyse business outcomes and performance indicators to identify trends, recommend improvements, and support the continuous evolution of platform capabilities. Contribute to the development and sharing of business analysis best practices, templates, and reusable assets across Technology.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Build trusted relationships with business stakeholders, platform teams, and external partners to understand business needs, manage expectations, and support successful change adoption. Collaborate with Business Analysts across all platform teams to promote common standards, share knowledge, support cross-platform initiatives. Facilitate workshops and discussions that enable end-to-end process improvement and enterprise-wide alignment.

Platform-specific result areas: Business Applications & Automation
  • Business Process Analysis & Optimisation: Analyse and map end-to-end business processes across functions such as Finance, HR, Operations and Corporate Services. Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and optimise processes, improving efficiency, compliance and business performance.

  • Enterprise Business Applications: Partner with business stakeholders to analyse, design and continuously improve business capabilities delivered through enterprise SaaS applications and digital workplace solutions. Ensure business requirements are translated into clear platform capabilities that support operational effectiveness, business objectives and user needs.

  • Process Automation & Digital Workflows: Identify, analyse and evaluate opportunities for workflow automation, low-code/no-code solutions and self-service capabilities. Support the definition of requirements for automation initiatives that reduce manual effort, improve control, increase efficiency and enable greater business agility.

  • Enterprise Application Lifecycle Optimisation: Analyse application usage, business fit, process effectiveness and user experience to identify opportunities for consolidation, rationalisation, optimisation or retirement of business applications.

  • Enterprise Integration & Connected Processes: Analyse end-to-end business capabilities spanning multiple applications and platforms. Define business, process and integration requirements supporting API-led connectivity, process orchestration and consistent information flows across the enterprise application landscape.

  • Business Data & Operational Insights: Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects and data specialists to define data requirements, reporting needs, performance measures and operational insights that support informed decision-making, process optimisation and business performance management.

  • Business Application Adoption & Value Realisation: Monitor platform adoption, process effectiveness and business outcomes. Identify opportunities to improve user adoption, increase platform utilisation and maximise the business value delivered through enterprise applications, integrations and automation solutions.

  • Cross-Platform Business Processes: Work closely with Business Analysts from other platform teams to analyse and optimise end-to-end business processes that span multiple platforms, ensuring consistency, integration and alignment across the Technology landscape. Contribute to common business analysis standards, methodologies, reusable assets and knowledge sharing across Technology.

Ownership & Accountability

The Business Analyst is accountable for ensuring business needs are clearly understood, analysed, documented and translated into platform capabilities that deliver measurable business value.

The role is accountable for:

  • Business requirements and requirements traceability

  • Business process analysis and optimisation

  • Demand discovery and requirements elicitation

  • Backlog readiness and refinement support

  • Business stakeholder alignment and engagement

  • Solution validation from a business perspective

  • Business value assessment and outcome measurement

  • Analysis standards, documentation quality and knowledge sharing

  • Identification of process improvement and automation opportunities

The Business Analyst owns the "what does the business need and why". The role translates business objectives into clear requirements and outcomes but does not own platform priorities, architecture decisions or technical implementation.

Education, skills and experience
  • Vocational (equal to ‘HBO-level’ in the Netherlands) or academic degree in Information Management, Information Technology, Business Administration or other relevant field

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience in a similar position

  • Knowledge of Business analysis or implementation design

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to engage with diverse stakeholders effectively

  • Proficiency in requirements elicitation and documentation techniques

  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Certified ArchiMate 3 Foundation & Practitioner or willingness to certify within first 3 to 6 months

  • Knowledge of and practical experience with enterprise SaaS applications, Microsoft Power Platform, workflow automation and enterprise integration concepts. Experience analysing and improving end-to-end business processes across multiple systems.

  • Working knowledge of agile methodology, techniques, and frameworks, to deliver solutions

  • Experience working within cross-functional Agile delivery teams and platform-based operating models

  • Fluent in English.
