About the job Sr. Electronics Technician
Under direction of the Director of Customer Engineering, the Senior Electronics Technician
perform duties related to technical support of X customers. He/she shall carry out assignments
related to PCB assembly, repair and debug, including management of PCB sub-contractors. Other
responsibilities include component and system level electrical measurements including, but not limited
to, use of oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, phase noise analyzers, frequency counters, network
analyzers and curve tracers. He/she will also be responsible for organization and analysis of lab
measurement data and writing technical reports.
Responsibilities
- Assembly and testing of evaluation boards and interposer boards
- Oversight and management of PCB fab and assembly sub-contractors including associated logistics such as pick-up and delivery of PCBs, purchasing and purchase requisition processing
- Device electrical measurements to support customer inquiries (jitter, phase noise, frequency
- Device characterization and use of data analysis tools such as Excel and Matlab.
- Device and system debug and troubleshooting, including returned material from customers.
- Maintain work area and equipment in safe, proper working condition
- Troubleshoot issues with bench test equipment or test setup
- Maintenance of Customer Engineering lab area including proper storage, organization, and inventory control of lab equipment and accessories (e.g. oscilloscope probes), evaluation boards, interposer boards, X devices, competitor devices and other PCB components
- Support other projects as needed
Qualifications & Requirements
- AS Degree in Electronics or Electronics Technology required, BS Electronics Engineering Technology a plus
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in a similar role
- Hands-on experience testing semiconductor devices, including experience with automated bench-test setups. Equipment experience should include oscilloscopes, digital signal analyzers, phase noise analyzers, spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, power supplies, digital multi- meters.
- Hands-on experience with PCB assembly (hand-solder and reflow), including surface-mount and chip-scale packages
- Knowledge of circuit debug, touch-up, and rework
- Ability to create and modify electronic schematics
- May be required to climb ladders to retrieve or maintain equipment
- Must be physically able to lift, push, pull up to 25 lbs.
- Knowledge of MATLAB is considered a plus
- Experience with instrument control using GPIB interface is considered a plus
- Demonstrated leadership in lab management or product management a plus
