Job summary

EU Satellite Centre (SatCen) invites interns to explore neuromorphic AI for efficient on-board data handling in ESA missions. The activity focuses on event-based processing to improve latency and power efficiency for space environments, with datasets generated or drawn from digital twins.

The project includes hands-on work with Neuromorphyx hardware, NeuroSight cameras, and BrainChip accelerators, housed at ESTEC, Noordwijk, in the Netherlands, under ESA mentorship.

Qualifications

• Must be a university student, preferably in your final or second-to-last year of a Master’s program.
• Working languages are English and French; good knowledge of one is required.
• Knowledge of AI and electronics is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Investigate neuromorphic AI for space on-board data handling.
• Identify use cases where event-based computing outperforms conventional FPGA/CPU/GPU.
• Develop a testbed using Neuromorphyx boards, integrating a NeuroSight Prophesee GenX320 with BrainChip AKD 1500.
