Associate Designer

Location: Holland, MI

Reports To: Jordan Shepard - Design Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation: Hourly

Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to provide design, detailing, and Bill of Materials for fabrication drawing packages. This role involves taking sales orders, building attributes, and engineering calculations to formulate the drafting and design of submittal/installation drawings and fabrication part drawings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Prepare installation instructions, finalize project-specific designs, detail drafting, and bills of materials.
  2. Create drawings using SolidWorks software.
  3. Review engineering calculations and supporting documentation to ensure designs meet customer requirements.
  4. Collaborate with Project Engineers, Designers, and Manufacturing for final product design.
  5. Apply engineering specifications and procedures to all Porter Corp projects.
  6. Use customer requirements, engineering calculations, and drawings to produce accurate fabrication drawings and installation instructions.
  7. Create precise Bills of Materials for manufacturing.
  8. Develop project drawings following drafting, design, and CAD procedures.
  9. Assist other Designers to complete projects timely.
  10. Provide installation and fabrication drawings on schedule per customer needs.
  11. Perform other related duties as required.

Education and/or Experience

An Associate’s degree or engineering technology degree.

Travel

Minimal to no travel required.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for solid modeling, including Part/Assembly and Weldment modeling.

Other Requirements

  • Knowledge of detailing procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly self-motivated to progress projects.
