Sytac is looking for a proactive Software Engineer in Test (SDET) / Automation Engineer / Test Engineer to join one of our dedicated engineering teams embedded within a leading global financial services client. In this role, you will work within the Mortgages domain, helping to maintain, test, and elevate critical mortgage application systems on a hybrid Windows platform.
As a Sytac consultant, you will blend functional application management with deep test automation and CI/CD engineering—ensuring system stability, automated regression coverage, and seamless software deliveries.
The Project & Tech Stack
You will join an Agile squad operating in two-week sprints in Amsterdam, collaborating closely across domains and system integrations. The application landscape features high-volume APIs, virtualized infrastructure, and modern deployment pipelines:
- Testing & Automation: Java, Selenium, BDD, End-to-End Automated Suites, Docker
- Backend & Data: Spring Boot framework, .NET layers, Oracle, MS SQL (Windows & Linux platforms)
- Ways of Working: Agile/Scrum/Kanban, automated regression testing, production monitoring
- Functional & System Maintenance: Manage functional operations, user support, and troubleshooting across complex mortgage application systems and API integrations.
- Test Automation & Quality: Build, run, and maintain automated regression test suites using Java, Selenium, and BDD practices in private cloud and Docker environments.
- CI/CD & Release Management: Build and optimize Microsoft deployment pipelines in Azure DevOps, supporting bi-weekly software releases and streamlining regulatory compliance processes.
- Monitoring & Observability: Implement performance tuning, monitoring, and alerting through Azure Insights and OpenTelemetry to guarantee system reliability.
- Operational Continuity: Participate in scheduled Thursday evening production releases (approx. 1 evening every 6 weeks) and a 24/7 on-call standby rotation (approx. 1 week every 10 weeks, fully compensated).
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Actively connect with stakeholders across the mortgage test chain, review documentation, and proactively share knowledge across teams.
How to Succeed
- Domain & Testing Expertise: Functional knowledge of financial applications or mortgage products, paired with expert-level API testing and automated test framework skills.
- Technical Tooling: Solid hands‑on experience with Java/Selenium, Docker, virtual test environments, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
- Troubleshooting & Ops: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to diagnose issues deep into application layers (.NET/Java), alongside monitoring experience (Azure Insights, Grafana, Kibana).
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Dutch.
- Consulting Mindset: A proactive, quality‑focused attitude—comfortable challenging decisions, providing direct feedback, and driving continuous improvement in complex corporate environments.
