Job summary

The Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel is seeking a Shift Engineer to join our Engineering team in Amsterdam. You will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance of guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces, while ensuring high standards of service.

We value English communication, a hospitable attitude, and a proactive approach. You will need to be flexible to work day, evening and weekend shifts at our central Amsterdam location.

Qualifications

• Excellent English communication; Dutch language skills are a plus.
• Willingness to learn and develop maintenance skills.
• Proactive, problem-solving mindset with hands-on experience.
• Hospitable attitude and a can-do approach.

• Eligible to work in the Netherlands.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day maintenance work in hotel rooms, public areas and back-of-house areas.

• Perform proactive maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment and machines.
• Report any serious maintenance problems or safety hazards to the manager/supervisor.

What are my responsibilities?

As a Shift Engineer you will be part of the Engineering department.

• Perform day to day maintenance work in hotel rooms, public areas and back of house areas.
• Respond and attend to guest repairs requests and communicate with them in a professional manner.
• Perform proactive maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment and machines.
• Report any serious maintenance problems, unusual findings or safety hazards immediately to the manager/supervisor.

What are we looking for?

• Have good communication skills in English, Dutch is always a plus.
• Eager and ready to learn and develop your skills in maintenance department.
• Proactive and great problem solver, with previous experience with DYI or similar.
• Have a hospitable personality with a "can do" attitude.
• Are be flexible and able to work in different shifts (day, evening, weekend).
• Are eligible to work in the Netherlands.
