Job summary

A leading global risk management firm is seeking a Senior Underwriter in Energy & Construction to manage a book of business with a focus on growth in the Power and Renewables sector. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate energy and/or construction insurance and established broker relationships. This role offers a hybrid work model based in Rotterdam or Dusseldorf, with opportunities to drive strategic development and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience as an underwriter, broker, or equivalent in large corporate energy and/or construction sectors.
  • Recognized client and broker relationships at peer level.
  • Fluency in English required, knowledge of German and/or Dutch ideal.

In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting and co-managing an assigned book of business, with a focus on growth and strategic development. Your initial concentration will be on Power, Renewables, and Midstream Energy, with the opportunity to expand into Construction (EAR/CAR) as the portfolio evolves.

The role can be located either in Rotterdam or Dusseldorf, where you will work a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 remotely.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and develop relationships with brokers and clients throughout Northern Europe (Benelux, the Nordic countries and Germany).
  • Keep abreast of technological developments in your customers' segments, as well as relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proactively support the successful execution of the Energy & Construction plan by contributing to the delivery of the branch and global P&L on all key metrics.
  • Promote and enhance both underwriting and operational excellence in collaboration with regional and global colleagues, including senior management.
Skills & Experience:
  • Extensive experience in the large corporate/international energy and/or construction insurance sector as an underwriter, broker or equivalent.
  • Well established in the market with recognized client and broker relationships at peer level.
  • Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing, for the day-to-day execution of the role. Knowledge of German and/or Dutch as additional languages ideal.
