Blyce is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to safeguard software quality across products used by governments and public organizations. You’ll own testing activities within your product team, coach junior testers, and help establish a structured testing process.
You’ll work with international teams in a multicultural environment, coordinating test efforts, monitoring quality, and advising stakeholders on risks and priorities.
Blyce has been supporting the digital transformation of governments and public organizations for more than 40 years. Our software products help modernize essential public services such as taxation, social security, permits, and licensing in more than 20 countries, including Curaçao, Bonaire, Suriname, Grenada, and Papua New Guinea.
With international teams in Curaçao, the Netherlands, Colombia, Bonaire, and beyond, we work in a multicultural environment where technology, public impact, and collaboration come together.
As a Senior Test Engineer at Blyce, you play a key role in safeguarding the quality of our software products. Through structured, hands‑on testing, you deliver clear advice on product quality and the associated risks. Within your product team, you take ownership of testing activities, coach junior testers, establish a structured testing process, monitor progress and quality, and advise stakeholders on risks, priorities, and opportunities for improvement.
Your responsibilities include:
Perform documented and structured manual testing to assess product quality, identify risks, and provide objective insights that support informed decision‑making.
Plan, coordinate, and support testing activities throughout the full test lifecycle in line with Blyce's Test Policy and Test Strategy.
Analyze requirements and other test basis documentation, design and review test cases, execute tests, and translate findings into effective test approaches, test plans, and effort estimates.
Actively contribute to sprint and release planning, raising quality concerns and advocating for testing priorities throughout the software development lifecycle.
Monitor test progress, quality metrics, and test coverage, maintain test ware, and communicate results, quality status, and key risks to teams, clients, and stakeholders.
Provide well‑founded advice on quality‑related decisions and proactively address risks, bottlenecks, priorities, and improvement opportunities.
Conduct peer reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes, standards, deliverables, and quality practices.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary and international teams, share knowledge, coach less experienced testers, and promote testing best practices.
Act as a subject matter expert in functional testing, taking ownership of the quality, consistency, and further development of the discipline.
Contribute to team objectives by aligning testing activities with unit goals and broader business priorities.
Stay up to date with developments in testing and apply company policies, processes, and standards consistently.
We are looking for someone who combines strong manual testing expertise with the ability to bring structure, clarity, and ownership to the testing process.
At least 7 years of experience as a software tester, with a strong focus on manual testing.
Experience creating test plans, executing structured test cycles, and writing test reports.
Experience with test estimation, sprint planning, and stakeholder advice.
Strong understanding of documented structured testing methods such as ISTQB or TMAP.
ISTQB or TMAP certification and demonstrable equivalent experience applying these methodologies.
Experience working in international or multicultural software development teams.
Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch.
A precise, structured, and quality‑oriented way of working.
Experience coaching or coordinating a small team of testers.
You thrive in this role if you:
Accountable: Take ownership of commitments and outcomes, proactively manage risks, and provide well‑founded recommendations.
Assertive: Communicate concerns and viewpoints clearly and constructively, remain confident and professional during disagreement, and make effective decisions under pressure.
Independent: Work autonomously, show initiative and analytical curiosity, monitor your own progress, and continuously develop your knowledge and skills.
Structured: Apply testing knowledge, standards, tools, and traceability consistently while breaking complex work into manageable steps and maintaining accuracy under changing priorities.
Collaborative: Foster effective collaboration across cultures and time zones, constructively challenge and support team decisions, share expertise, communicate transparently, and help improve team practices and ways of working.
