Job summary

Monks is seeking a Senior Template Designer to drive how we build, automate, and scale digital assets for global brands. You will transform concepts into scalable template systems and ensure campaigns run seamlessly across e-commerce channels.

You will focus on production, automation, and system building, collaborating with PMs, QA, and external agencies while mentoring junior designers and maintaining thorough documentation.

About the Role

As a Senior Template Designer, you will be the driving force behind how we build, automate, and scale digital assets for some of the world's most recognizable household brands.

This isn't your traditional creative ideation role. Instead, you will focus on the clever, technical side of design: production, automation, and system building. You will help us take design concepts and turn them into smart, scalable template systems, ensuring our e-commerce and global campaigns run like clockwork. Working closely with project managers, quality assurance teams, and other designers, you’ll help us make the complex simple and the manual automatic.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain robust, scalable template systems and design infrastructure, primarily using Figma.

• Partner with our automation squad to review design briefs, determining how we can templatise them for maximum efficiency.

• Collaborate with external creative agencies to simplify design principles, giving feedback to make sure their concepts can be scaled smoothly.

• Support a variety of global brands with high-volume, e-commerce-heavy deliverables.

• Guide and support junior and mid-weight designers, delegating tasks and helping them learn the systems you build.

• Write clear, internal onboarding documentation so our team can easily understand and adopt our template systems.

• Work hand-in-hand with project managers and QA teams to ensure everything we produce is accurate, efficient, and top-tier quality.

• Figma Champion: You have advanced, hands‑on experience with Figma and love using its advanced features to build smart systems.

• Systems Thinker: You have a natural mindset for production, automation, and structural design rather than just starting from a blank creative canvas.

• Great Communicator: You can explain technical design setups to both technical and non-technical teammates in plain, simple English.

• Team Player & Mentor: You enjoy collaborating across teams (like PMs and QA) and are happy to guide junior team members.

• Detail-Oriented: You take pride in neat files, organized layers, thorough documentation and logical workflows that anyone can step into and understand.

• Experience presenting design systems or automation workflows directly to clients.
