Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in enterprise IT infrastructure environments.
  • Hands-on Windows Server environments (AD, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
  • Strong knowledge of network topology and remote access technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage infrastructure, systems, and applications across GLI locations.
  • Administer and optimise Cisco networking environments.
  • Manage and support VMware virtualisation platforms.
  • Maintain core infrastructure services (Windows Server, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, email).
  • Monitor system health and proactively resolve issues.
  • Support backup and disaster recovery processes.
  • Apply updates and configuration changes per security standards.
  • Lead incident and problem management and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain technical documentation and runbooks.
  • Provide escalation support across domains and collaborate with stakeholders.

Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer (IT Generalist – Infrastructure & Operations) to join our IT team in the Netherlands - Haarlem.

Type: Full-Time

Travel: Up to 5%

Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer who operates as a high-performing IT generalist, capable of owning and delivering across a broad infrastructure landscape. This role is responsible for the provisioning, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of systems, networks, and services across multiple GLI office locations. The successful candidate will combine deep technical capability with strong ownership, disciplined prioritisation, and the ability to consistently deliver to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and manage assigned infrastructure, systems, and applications, ensuring reliability, performance, and security.
  • Administer and optimise Cisco networking environments (routing, switching, LAN/WAN performance).
  • Manage and support VMware virtualisation platforms, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain core infrastructure services (Windows Server, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, enterprise email systems).
  • Monitor system health (logs, alerts, performance metrics) and proactively resolve issues before impact.
  • Support and operate backup and disaster recovery processes, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Apply system updates, patches, and configuration changes in line with security and operational standards.
  • Lead and contribute to incident and problem management, including root cause analysis and preventative actions.
  • Maintain high-quality technical documentation, including system configurations and procedures.
  • Provide escalation support and resolve complex technical issues across multiple domains.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
  • Support global operations, including inter-site connectivity and remote troubleshooting.
Senior-Level Capability (Essential for Success)
  • Strong expertise in Cisco networking (routing, switching, troubleshooting).
  • Proven capability managing VMware environments at scale.
  • Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting capability across multiple technical domains.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and deliver consistent results.
  • Experience in ITIL practices, particularly Problem Management and service improvement.

Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years in enterprise IT infrastructure environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Windows Server environments (AD, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)
    • Backup and disaster recovery systems
    • Virtualisation platforms (VMware)
  • Strong knowledge of network topology and remote access technologies.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to operate across both technical and business audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to quality and deadlines.
