JPGray - Netherlands is seeking a Chief of Staff to a Marketplace Vice President to help lead a large, cross-functional organisation spanning Product, Engineering, Data & AI, Design and Commercial.

As a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the VP, you will translate strategy into execution, drive leadership alignment, and prioritise critical business initiatives. This role offers visibility, impact, and the opportunity to scale operations across a marketplace context.

Qualifications

Significant experience in Chief of Staff, Strategy & Operations, Business Operations or Programme Leadership.
Proven experience supporting senior leaders in large-scale Product, Tech or Digital organisations.
Strong strategic thinking and structured problem solving.
Ability to translate complex information into clear recommendations and actions.

Responsibilities

Partner with the VP to drive strategic priorities and execution.
Design leadership operating rhythms including planning cycles and reviews.
Prepare executive briefings and decision materials for faster decisions.
Drive cross-functional programmes from concept to delivery.
Build visibility on priorities, risks and dependencies for leadership.
Facilitate alignment across Product, Engineering, Data & AI, Design and Commercial.
Identify risks and issues to protect delivery timelines.
Ensure leadership forums produce clear decisions and ownership.
Improve governance and planning processes across the organisation.

About the Role

As Chief of Staff to a Marketplace Vice President, you will play a pivotal role in helping lead and scale a large, complex organisation spanning Product, Engineering, Data & AI, Design and Commercial functions.

Working as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the VP, you will help translate strategy into execution, increase leadership effectiveness, drive organisational alignment and ensure critical business priorities move forward with clarity and pace.

This is a highly visible role for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys solving complex organisational challenges and can influence senior stakeholders across a matrix organisation.

What You’ll Do

Partner closely with the VP to drive strategic priorities, organisational effectiveness and execution excellence.
Design and run leadership operating rhythms, including planning cycles, business reviews, all-hands meetings and leadership offsites.
Prepare decision frameworks, recommendations and executive briefings that enable faster and higher-quality decision-making.
Drive strategic initiatives and cross-functional programmes from concept through execution.
Build visibility across priorities, performance, risks and dependencies to support informed leadership decisions.
Facilitate alignment across Product, Engineering, Data & AI, Design and Commercial stakeholders.
Surface organisational risks, operational challenges and team health indicators before they impact delivery.
Ensure leadership forums produce clear decisions, ownership and measurable follow-through.
Improve governance, planning processes and ways of working across the wider organisation.
Leverage AI, automation and scalable operational practices to improve efficiency and decision support.

What You Bring

Significant experience in Chief of Staff, Strategy & Operations, Business Operations, Management Consulting or Programme Leadership roles.
Proven experience supporting senior leaders within large-scale Product, Technology or Digital organisations.
Strong strategic thinking and structured problem‑solving capabilities.
Ability to translate complex information into clear recommendations and actionable decisions.
Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
Experience influencing across multiple teams and organisational boundaries without direct authority.
Strong programme, portfolio and operational management experience.
Ability to navigate ambiguity, competing priorities and fast‑changing business environments.
Demonstrated ability to build trust, challenge constructively and operate as a strategic thought partner.

Nice-to-Have Skills

Previous Chief of Staff experience supporting VP, SVP or executive‑level leaders.
Product, Technology, Data or AI domain expertise.
Management consulting background (McKinsey, BCG, Bain or equivalent).
Experience working within marketplace, platform, ecommerce or technology businesses.
Exposure to OKR frameworks, portfolio management and organisational planning processes.
Budget planning and FP&A partnership experience.
Experience leveraging AI tools to improve reporting, operations or decision‑making processes.
