Job summary

BIQH seeks a Senior Database Administrator (Microsoft SQL Server) to optimize and scale our SQL Server environment within a growing fintech platform. You will be the first DBA in the operations team, collaborating with developers and architects to keep performance high and reliability strong.

You will modernize the database platform, plan upgrades, and help establish best practices for future development. The role offers hybrid work with in-office presence in The Netherlands and exciting growth

Qualifications

• Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Good understanding of SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, and administration.
• Experience monitoring SQL Server activity and identifying bottlenecks.
• Ability to analyze and optimize complex SQL queries and execution plans.
• Experience improving SQL import processes and ETL statements.
• Experience planning and executing SQL Server upgrades and migrations.
• Knowledge of indexing, maintenance, backup & recovery, and high availability concepts.
• Proactive mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Bachelor's or University degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Optimize and maintain SQL server environment (70% of your time).
• Monitor, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environment.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize queries and execution plans.
• Improve import processes and ensure database performance.
• Monitor database health and implement best practices for performance tuning, maintenance, and security.
• Modernize the database platform (30% of your time).
• Plan and execute upgrades to newer SQL Server versions with minimal downtime.
• Contribute ideas for architecture improvements and best practices.
