Job summary

Mercell is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team. You will design, develop, and maintain robust, high-quality Java applications using Spring MVC and Spring Boot, while integrating and optimizing services in AWS.

The role focuses on secure, scalable software solutions and collaborative architecture with cross-functional teams. You will contribute to CI/CD, implement test automation, and optimize SQL queries.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience with Java (Spring MVC and Spring Boot).
• Proven experience with cloud computing services, preferably AWS.
• Strong background in building web applications.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD, SDLC processes, and test automation.
• Adherence to clean code principles.
• Familiarity with event-driven technologies such as Apache Kafka.
• Experience of Infrastructure as Code with any tool (CloudFormation preferred).
• Strong SQL knowledge and experience with stored procedures (DocumentDB, MariaDB, PostgreSQL).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team.

What you'll do:

What you'll bring:

• Senior-level experience with the Java (Spring MVC and Springboot)
• Proven experience with cloud computing services, preferably AWS.

• Experience of Infrastructure as Code with any of the available tool but CloudFormation is preferred
• Strong SQL knowledge and experience with stored procedures with databases like DocumentDB, MariaDB, Postgresql

• Portugal, Lisbon (remote): Mercell does not currently have a legal entity in Portugal. Employment will therefore be arranged through a trusted Employer of Record (EoR) partner, in line with local regulations. Candidates should be comfortable with this arrangement.
• Netherlands, Utrecht (hybrid): Combination of work from home and on-site presence in our local office, to foster collaboration.
