Job summary

ILIAS Solutions seeks a Senior Scrum Master to own Agile delivery effectiveness across defence software squads, within a Spotify-inspired organisation. You’ll enable predictable, sustainable delivery by coaching squads, stakeholders and leadership, managing impediments and dependencies, and aligning with product roadmaps and documentation efforts.

The role demands 5+ years in Agile software delivery, strong Scrum/Lean expertise, and the ability to influence across teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years working in Agile software delivery environments, with substantial experience as a Scrum Master or comparable role.
• Strong practical understanding of Scrum, Agile and Lean principles.
• Experience coaching teams and stakeholders to improve collaboration, delivery effectiveness and ways of working.
• Proven ability to facilitate complex discussions, resolve impediments and navigate competing priorities.
• Experience influencing delivery across multiple teams, programmes or organisational domains.
• Demonstrated ability to improve organisational delivery effectiveness, not only team-level performance.
• Strong communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
• Professional working proficiency in English.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain the required national or NATO security clearance for this role.

Responsibilities

• Create conditions for effective delivery, ensuring Agile events and stakeholder interactions foster momentum and value.
• Coach Squads, Product stakeholders and leadership to apply Agile thinking pragmatically.
• Identify, manage and remove impediments, risks and dependencies affecting delivery.
• Strengthen backlog refinement, sprint readiness and roadmap execution with Market Product Managers.
• Collaborate with Tech Writers to align documentation with delivery objectives.
• Use Agile metrics to improve predictability, transparency and sustainable practices.
• Coordinate with Scrum Masters, Chapters and stakeholders to resolve cross-team dependencies.
• Mentor less experienced Scrum Masters and contribute to Agile practices improvement.

About the role

You’ll take ownership of Agile delivery effectiveness across one or more defence software Squads , working at the intersection of Product, Engineering and business stakeholders to turn complex priorities into predictable, sustainable delivery. This is a permanent role in a Spotify-inspired organisation (Squads, Chapters, Tribes), where Senior Scrum Masters contribute not only to team success, but also to the continuous improvement of delivery practices across the wider organisation. You’ll operate in a multi‑Squad environment with dependencies spanning engineering, product, documentation and customer‑facing teams. The role extends beyond a single Squad and requires the ability to influence outcomes across organisational boundaries.

What you’ll do

• Create the conditions for effective delivery, ensuring Agile events, stakeholder interactions and team collaboration help Squads make informed decisions, maintain momentum and deliver valuable outcomes.
• Coach Squads, Product stakeholders and leadership, helping them apply Agile thinking pragmatically rather than mechanically.
• Identify, manage and remove impediments, risks and dependencies that impact delivery performance.
• Partner with Market Product Managers to strengthen backlog refinement, sprint readiness and roadmap execution, while ensuring priorities, dependencies and delivery constraints remain visible.
• Collaborate with Tech Writers to ensure documentation activities are planned and aligned with delivery objectives.
• Use delivery insights and Agile metrics to improve predictability, transparency and sustainable ways of working.
• Coordinate with Scrum Masters, Chapters and stakeholders to resolve cross‑team dependencies and systemic delivery challenges.
• Mentor less experienced Scrum Masters and contribute to the continuous improvement of Agile practices across ILIAS.

Your Squads deliver valuable outcomes predictably and sustainably, while collaboration across teams continues to improve. Product, Engineering and business stakeholders understand priorities, risks and dependencies early enough to act on them rather than react to them. Teams take ownership of their commitments and continuously improve how they work, using Agile practices as tools for delivery rather than goals in themselves. Stakeholders trust delivery forecasts because expectations are clear, communication is transparent and progress is visible.

What you bring

• 5+ years working in Agile software delivery environments, with substantial experience as a Scrum Master or a comparable Agile delivery or coaching role.
• Strong practical understanding of Scrum, Agile and Lean principles.
• Experience coaching teams and stakeholders to improve collaboration, delivery effectiveness and ways of working.
• Proven ability to facilitate complex discussions, resolve impediments and navigate competing priorities.
• Experience influencing delivery across multiple teams, programmes or organisational domains, balancing team autonomy with broader business objectives.
• Demonstrated ability to improve organisational delivery effectiveness, not only team‑level performance.
• Strong communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
• Professional working proficiency in English.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain the required national or NATO security clearance for this role.

The security‑clearance eligibility requirement is not flexible.

Nice to have

• PSM II, PSM III, A‑CSM, CSP‑SM, SAFe Scrum Master or a comparable certification.
• Experience working in a Spotify‑inspired organisation with Squads, Chapters and Tribes.
• Experience supporting multiple Agile teams within a complex software environment.
• Familiarity with Agile reporting, delivery forecasting and continuous improvement practices.
• Experience with Jira or similar Agile delivery tools.
• Previous mentoring or coaching experience.
