Europe (Flexible/Hybrid/Remote with travel as required) | Full-Time | Senior R&D Role

I’m partnering with a leading European food ingredients company that’s driving innovation in the plant-based space. They’re looking for a Senior Scientist to help develop the next generation of sustainable, high-performance plant-based ingredients for the global food and beverage industry.

This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge R&D projects, collaborate with world-class technical teams, and bring impactful new products to market.

About the Company

My client has a strong track record of creating innovative, clean-label, and plant-based ingredient solutions. They partner with leading global and regional food brands, helping them deliver better taste, texture, and nutrition—while advancing sustainability.

The Role

• Lead and deliver R&D projects focused on plant proteins, starches, fibers, and other plant-based ingredients
• Translate customer needs into functional ingredient solutions
• Conduct lab-scale formulation, application trials, and pilot plant scale-up
• Work closely with commercial, marketing, and application teams to bring concepts to life
• Stay ahead of market and technology trends in plant-based innovation
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to technical training initiatives

Who We’re Looking For

• MSc or PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or related field
• 5+ years of R&D experience, ideally within plant-based ingredients or products
• Strong knowledge of ingredient functionality, formulation, and processing
• Confident communicator who can work directly with customers
• Fluent in English (additional European languages a plus)
• Passion for innovation, problem-solving, and sustainability
