Zero Motorcycles is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer (Mechanical) to drive quality and reliability improvements for mechanical systems across design, production, and customer operations. This role focuses on ensuring robustness and durability of critical mechanical systems, while supporting production partners and resolving issues for powertrain customers.
The Senior Quality Engineer will work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and service teams to address systemic issues, improve quality processes, and contribute to new product readiness. The position is based in Noord-Scharwoude, Netherlands, and is full-time, Monday through Friday, reporting to the Sr. Director, Quality Engineering.
Occasional travel (2-3 days at a time) within Europe is expected, with potential trips to the United States and global manufacturing sites.
Lead quality initiatives for mechanical systems (frames, suspension, driveline, castings, fasteners) across product lifecycle stages.
Support new product introduction (NPI) by reviewing validation results, engineering changes, and production readiness.
Resolve mechanical quality issues affecting production and powertrain customers using structured problem-solving (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa, etc.).
Collaborate with engineering teams to embed durability, manufacturability, and serviceability requirements into new designs.
Partner with production partners to ensure containment, corrective actions, and continuous improvement are implemented effectively.
Monitor and analyze quality data, warranty trends, and service reports to identify systemic risks.
Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and global quality forums.
Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in mechanical quality.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
5+ years of experience in quality engineering, mechanical design, or reliability within automotive, motorcycle, aerospace, or EV industries.
Skills and Attributes
Strong knowledge of structural mechanics, fatigue, vibration, and durability testing.
Hands-on experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and validation methods.
Proven ability to resolve complex technical issues in production and customer environments.
Familiarity with ISO 9001; IATF 16949 knowledge preferred.
Strong communication and leadership skills, capable of working across cross-functional teams.
Fluent in English; Dutch, German, or French is a plus.
Driving licenses A and B required.
Travel
