Job summary

Nova Hunte Ltd in the Netherlands is seeking a Senior Python Developer for a long-term contract with a leading public sector client. You will develop web solutions and data automation using Python, SQL Server, Power BI, and VBA, and support migration from Access-based systems.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in software development, strong SQL Server and ETL experience, and familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure DevOps.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of professional software development.
• 5+ years with Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL, SSIS, schema design, stored procedures).
• Proficiency with Python and web/data/automation frameworks.
• VBA scripting for automation and data processing.
• Strong knowledge of full-stack solution design and security concepts.
• Power BI data modelling and reporting expertise.

Responsibilities

Are you a Senior Python Developer with 15+ years of experience in software development? For a long-term contract opportunity with a leading public sector client.

Requirements

• 15+ years of professional experience in software development
• 5+ years of professional experience with Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL, SSIS, schema design, stored procedures, performance tuning)
• Proficiency with Python and frameworks for web development, data manipulation and automation
• Proficiency with VBA applications (Excel, Access) including VBA scripting for developing automation scripts, data import/export utilities, and pre-processing tools
• Good knowledge of the design, documentation and development of full stack solutions
• Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI (data modelling, DAX, dashboards, reporting) for providing advanced visualisation and reporting capabilities
• Proficiency in ETL processes and data-preparation technologies, including tools such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Power Query and Neo4j data-import or ETL utilities
• Good working knowledge of version control systems (e.g. Git)
• Good working knowledge of relational database development, with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server, including data modelling, schema design, T-SQL, stored procedures, functions and query optimisation
• Good working knowledge of application security, authentication, and authorisation concepts, including OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect
• Good knowledge of Agile software development methodologies with practical experience using Azure DevOps for backlog management, planning, source control, CI/CD pipelines and work tracking
• Good knowledge and display of prerequisites of working in a flexible environment including participation in multi-lingual meetings, ease of communication, exposure to an international/multi-cultural environment
• Good knowledge of preparing and maintaining technical documentation for developed solutions
• Good working knowledge of containerisation using Docker; familiarity with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes is an advantage
• University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, with practical knowledge in software development, databases, and small-scale system design
• (Desirable) Knowledge of Microsoft .NET (C#) and ASP.NET Core
• (Desirable) Good knowledge of using Linux shell and basic Linux concepts (e.g. users, groups, rights)
• (Desirable) Good knowledge of Elasticsearch for indexing and querying complex, large or unstructured datasets
