Job summary

NewCold is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Design & Engineering team at the Breda hub. You will be the technical expert for design and construction of cold storage facilities, from business development through handover to Operations, working in a global, multidisciplinary environment with a strong focus on engineering excellence rather than people management.

• Master's degree in Architecture, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in logistic real estate or related projects.

About The Vacancy

To support our continued global growth, we are looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Design & Engineering team.

In this role, you will be a key technical expert within our internationally operating team. You will use your extensive knowledge of engineering, cold storage facilities, and project delivery to contribute to the development of our engineering standards and capabilities. This is a specialist role with a strong focus on engineering excellence rather than people management.

You will be responsible for the design and construction of NewCold facilities and their technical installations, from the business development phase through to final handover to Operations.

Based at our Global Support and Innovation Center in Breda, you will work in a multidisciplinary environment and be exposed to many aspects of our global business.

What will you do?

• Managing the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs.
• Managing the progress and identifying and manage risks.
• Overseeing product construction and testing to ensure completion of projects as efficiently and effectively as possible.
• Evaluating and improving the changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project.
• Developing new engineering concepts for the benefit of our warehouses (a.o. Energy Management)
• Providing input regarding project outcomes and resolving escalated issues arising from operations in coordination with other departments.
• Providing strategic direction to ensure successful project outcomes and completion.
• Giving engineering life-cycle support to realized warehouses.
• Providing support to business development initiatives.
• Providing support to operational initiatives while safeguarding NewCold’s Design and Engineering standards.
• Providing support to sustainability initiatives and integrating them within NewCold’s standard design.
• Prepare the tender packages for the general contractor and other specialist contractors.
• Support with the permitting process and strategy.
• Liaising with local engineers for input on design.

Who are we looking for?

You have:

• Master Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• At least 10 years of experience in logistic real estate (in a role as contractor, developer, consultant or client)
• Evidence of a strong background in Project Engineering
• Willing to travel on a fairly regular basis
• Comfortable working in a dynamic work environment
• Highly proficient in English, any other European language is a plus
