Job description

Senior Product Owner – Financial Markets | Equities & Trading Platforms

Amsterdam, Netherlands | Posted on 05/10/2026

Are you an experienced Product Owner with a strong background in Financial Markets and in-depth knowledge of Equities? Do you know how trading and execution flows work from front to back, and can you translate complex business needs into clear priorities for IT teams? Then this could be an interesting opportunity for you.

For ING Financial Markets, we are looking for a Senior Product Owner to lead two squads within the Global Equity Listed Products (GEP) domain. The squads are responsible for applications within the Fidessa, Ullink and Horizon landscape , supporting key processes across trading, execution and trade capture.

About the environment

The Global Equity Listed Products area consists of several squads responsible for the end-to-end delivery and evolution of ING’s technology landscape across Equity Structured Products, Listed Derivatives and Fixed Income .

You will operate at the intersection of business and technology, where strategic change, regulatory requirements and the stability of critical Financial Markets applications all need to come together.

This is a fast-moving environment with significant responsibility and pressure . To succeed, you need to be proactive, driven and comfortable dealing with strong and direct stakeholders. You are flexible, able to think outside the box and confident making decisions when priorities compete or circumstances change.

Your role

This is a niche Product Owner position within a fast-moving and high-pressure Financial Markets environment. You will take ownership of two squads of approximately eight professionals each, working at the intersection of business, trading and technology.

You combine strong Financial Markets expertise with Product Owner experience to determine what needs to be delivered and in which order. You own the roadmap and backlog, set priorities and make clear trade-offs between strategic change, regulatory requirements and operational stability.

You work closely with senior stakeholders across Trading, Sales, Risk, Operations, IT and Procurement. This requires more than traditional stakeholder management: you need to be comfortable challenging stakeholders, making decisions and maintaining direction when priorities or interests compete.

You are part of a wider team of Product Owners and work closely with the Product Manager to translate the Financial Markets strategy into executable roadmaps.

What will you do?

You will:

  • Own and prioritise the roadmap and backlog for the Fidessa/Horizon squads;
  • Balance strategic change, regulatory requirements and operational stability;
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria;
  • Drive improvements across the end-to-end execution and trade capture flow;
  • Make clear trade-offs between competing priorities, scope, timelines and risks;
  • Coordinate change and releases with stakeholders, vendors and operations;
  • Translate incidents and operational risks into preventative improvements;
  • Lead key Agile ceremonies, including refinement, sprint planning and reviews;
  • Identify when tactical solutions could create long-term risks and prioritise sustainable improvements;
  • Align with other Product Owners and stakeholders to deliver end-to-end value.
Requirements

What do you bring?

You bring:

  • At least 7 years of experience within Financial Markets and/or Treasury, with demonstrated ownership of change delivery in complex stakeholder environments;
  • Proven domain knowledge of cash Equities and Equity-based structured products;
  • Strong understanding of the associated front-to-back flow, from trading and execution through trade capture to downstream processing;
  • Solid knowledge of Financial Markets product flows, with particular depth in execution and trade capture, including key controls, risk points and operational handoffs;
  • Experience working in an IT delivery environment with DevOps teams, where you understand application capabilities and constraints and can make clear trade-offs between scope, time and risk;
  • Proven experience owning prioritisation and making explicit trade-offs between competing demands;
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills in English, including the ability to align and challenge senior business and IT stakeholders;
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Nice to have

Experience with Fidessa, Horizon or comparable trading platforms is a strong advantage for this position. Experience with vendor release and change processes is also valuable, as is exposure to other asset classes such as leveraged derivatives, listed commodities and/or fixed income.

Your way of working

You are proactive, driven and decisive and feel comfortable operating in a demanding environment where priorities can shift quickly. You communicate clearly and directly, are able to stand your ground with senior stakeholders and are comfortable making decisions under pressure.

At the same time, you are able to look beyond the immediate request. You challenge assumptions, identify longer-term risks and help steer stakeholders and squads towards sustainable solutions.

  • A secondment-to-permanent (detavast) arrangement, starting with a one-year contract. The intention is to transition into a permanent position with ING after 18 months, subject to mutual agreement.
  • A salary range of € 6.728,13 – € 8804,14 gross per month , based on 36 hours per week and depending on experience.
  • Additional benefits, including holiday allowance, a 13th-month payment and pension contribution .
  • Hybrid working, with an expectation of being in the office on average two days per week .
