Job description

About the job

At Hopper, we’re on a mission to build the most customer-centric travel company on earth—and evolving into Hopper Technology Solutions (HTS), a B2B powerhouse that powers travel for some of the world’s largest platforms. Our marketplace and white-label solutions are redefining how travel is booked and paid for across Flights, Hotels, Homes, Rental Cars, Attractions, and more.

The Payments team plays a critical role in this transformation. Our vision is to deliver a magical, frictionless, and financially inclusive payment experience—both in our consumer app and across our Hopper Cloud partner integrations. We aim to:

  • Unlock payment choice by supporting a wide range of global and local payment methods
  • Eliminate friction through payment stack optimization, intelligent routing, and smart retries
  • Unify payments across all verticals and lines of business within Hopper and HTS
  • Remove financial barriers to travel, enabling more people to explore the world affordably

As a Senior Product Manager, Payments, you’ll sit at the intersection of engineering, data, design, and finance. You’ll own high-impact initiatives across core payments infrastructure, checkout optimization, payment method expansion, and authorization rate improvements. You’ll need to be highly analytical, execution-oriented, and motivated by solving complex problems at scale.

This is a high-visibility role where you’ll shape the future of how payments work across Hopper’s global platform—and play a key part in unlocking our next stage of growth.

What would your day-to-day look like

As a Senior Product Manager, Payments, you’ll lead strategy and execution across three core areas:

  • Customer Payments – Drive a seamless and localized checkout experience by enabling frictionless card payments and expanding our support for alternative payment methods (APMs) across all geographies.
Customer Payouts – Power our Fintech products with fast, reliable, and user-friendly payout experiences, ensuring customers are refunded or credited in the method and timeframe they expect.

  • Supplier Payouts – Optimize how we pay our global network of suppliers and partners, balancing speed, cost, and flexibility to strengthen relationships and support our B2B ambitions through HTS.

You’ll be responsible for both the vision and the execution. A typical day may include:

  • Managing a product roadmap from idea to launch, owning prioritization, scoping, and delivery of high-impact features.
  • Partnering with engineering to break down complex technical problems and ensure clarity across teams.
  • Collaborating with data scientists to deeply analyze customer behavior, payment performance, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Working cross-functionally with business stakeholders (Finance, Operations, Legal, BD) to align on goals and develop scalable, commercially viable solutions.
  • Defining and tracking KPIs that measure success across payment conversion, authorization rates, fraud, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Brainstorming and wireframing new payment flows and features that reach millions of users across Hopper and our Cloud partners.
  • Making thoughtful trade-offs between scope, speed, and value to ensure we’re building solutions that deliver measurable impact while managing risk.
  • Staying ahead of the curve on emerging trends in global payments, APMs, real-time payouts, and regulatory changes that may impact our roadmap.

An ideal candidate has

  • 5+ years of Product Management experience, with at least 2–3 years focused on payments (checkout, payment methods, fraud, payouts, or processing infrastructure)
  • Experience working in a global two-sided marketplace or travel/e-commerce platform
  • Familiarity with the e-commerce payments ecosystem—you understand the nuances of authorization rates, payment routing, fraud management, and cost optimization
  • A proven ability to untangle complex problems, structure them clearly, and dive deep into data to inform decisions
  • A strong background in data analytics, including hands-on experience with A/B testing and operating in a highly metrics-driven environment
  • A strong sense of product ownership—you can go from whiteboarding ideas to translating them into user stories, edge cases, and feature specs that drive UX
  • Comfort writing SQL, querying APIs, and brainstorming implementation options directly with engineers

Perks and benefits of working with us:

  • Well-funded and proven startup with large ambitions, competitive salary and the upsides of pre-IPO equity packages.
  • Hopper offers employees enrollment to a Hopper sponsored Health Collective that includes options for basic medical and dental insurances, as well as options for deductibles.
  • Hopper offers private insurance coverage to supplement social security payments attributed to Accidental Death and Long term disability, including Excess and Gap insurances.
  • In lieu of a formal pension plan, Hopper will provide a cash allowance to put towards pension savings.
  • Please ask us about our very generous parental leave, much above industry standards!
  • Unlimited PTO.
  • Flexdesk coworking All Access Pass AND Work-from-home stipend.
  • Carrot Cash travel stipend.
  • Entrepreneurial culture where pushing limits and taking risks is everyday business.
  • Open communication with management and company leadership.
  • Small, dynamic teams = massive impact.
