Job summary

Nexperia, headquartered in Nijmegen, seeks a Senior Principal System Engineer to define the next generation of Signal Chain products. You will lead system-level architecture and collaborate across design, verification, and test teams to balance performance, cost, and reliability.

You will act as the primary technical interface for customers and field teams, translating market needs into scalable silicon solutions and driving the roadmap for automotive, industrial, and high-density consumer

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10–15 years of experience in system-level semiconductor design, analog/mixed-signal or interface products.
• Ability to translate customer and market needs into robust, manufacturable solutions.
• Deep understanding of system-level trade-offs including performance, cost, power, and constraints.
• Experience working in global, cross-functional environments as a technical interface between engineering, marketing and customers.
• Hands-on silicon bring-up, validation, characterization, and lab-based system debugging.
• Strong analytical mindset with structured problem-solving and decision-making in complex environments.
• Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, or guiding technical direction in projects.
• Preferred: Automotive, Industrial, or High-Volume Consumer Electronics applications.
• Knowledge of high-speed board design, signal integrity, and transmission line behavior.
• Familiarity with simulation/analysis tools such as ADS, SPICE, or equivalent.
• Understanding of I2C, I3C, SPI interfaces.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Principal System Engineer within BG IC Solutions, based at Nexperia's headquarters in Nijmegen. In this role, you will act as the global technical authority defining the next generation of Signal Chain Products. You will lead the development of innovative, cost-effective, and highly robust solutions targeting Automotive, Industrial, and High-Density Consumer/Enterprise markets, operating at the intersection of R&D, Marketing, and key Tier-1 customers. You will translate complex interface challenges into scalable, high-volume silicon solutions.

What you will do

• Define system architecture for voltage translators and signal chain interface products, ensuring robust performance across use cases and environments
• Identify emerging market trends and translate them into new product opportunities and long-term roadmap directions
• Translate customer requirements into clear and actionable technical specifications
• Collaborate with design, verification, and test teams on power, area, and cost trade-offs
• Drive system-level optimization, risk management, and technical decision-making
• Evaluate prototype silicon to ensure performance compliance with system requirements
• Develop technical documentation, including datasheets, application notes, and user guides
• Provide system-level customer support, including schematic review, layout guidance, and debugging support
• Act as the primary technical interface for key customers and field teams
• Lead technical reviews to ensure quality and timely delivery of results
• Partner with foundries and NPI teams to select optimal process technologies, balancing performance and cost

What you will need

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• 10-15 years of experience in system-level semiconductor design, ideally in analog/mixed-signal or interface products
• Strong ability to translate customer and market needs into robust, manufacturable technical solutions
• Deep understanding of system-level trade-offs, including performance, cost, power, and implementation constraints
• Experience working in global, cross-functional environments as a technical interface between engineering, marketing, and customers
• Hands-on experience with silicon bring-up, validation, characterization, and lab-based system debugging
• Strong analytical mindset with structured problem-solving skills and ability to drive technical decisions in complex environments
• Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, or guiding technical direction in project settings
• Preferred: Experience in Automotive, Industrial, or High-Volume Consumer Electronics applications
• Knowledge of high-speed board design, signal integrity, and transmission line behavior
• Familiarity with simulation and analysis tools such as ADS, SPICE, or equivalent
• Understanding of communication interfaces such as I2C, I3C, SPI, etc.
