Job summary

Ranpak is seeking a Senior PLC Automation Engineer to shape control systems for our advanced packaging automation machines. You will take PLC logic from prototype to robust serial-production solutions, coordinating with mechanical and electrical engineers.

Key focus areas include PLC/HMI integration, machine data collection, dashboarding, industrial networking, and cybersecurity. Travel up to 5% and after-hours support may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Automation or Electrical Engineering.
• 8+ years of proven PLC engineering experience on automation machines.
• Proven ability to program and configure PLC and HMI systems (Beckhoff, Siemens, Omron).
• Experience with IEC 61131-3 languages, especially Structured Text (ST).
• Knowledge of Profinet, OPC UA, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP networks.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork; fluent in Dutch and English.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop PLC logic for serial production.
• Ensure seamless PLC, HMI, drive system integration.
• Participate in new product development and customer-specific solutions.
• Collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical teams on machine functionality.
• Test and commission software, including I/O, motion control, and interfaces.
• Develop machine data collection and dashboarding solutions; strengthen cybersecurity.
• Maintain safety PLC applications per machinery-safety standards.
• Travel up to 5%; provide after-hours support when required.
