Job summary

optics11 in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Offshore Project Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team, contributing to underwater system architecture, deployment plans, and cross‑functional projects in an international environment.

You will work with internal and external stakeholders, travel up to 40%, and support hardware and software R&D to advance our sensors and sensing systems. The role offers exposure to defense-related deployments and global collaboration.

Qualifications

BSc/MSc in Mechanical/Electrical/Aerospace/Naval or marine engineering.
Agile engineering mindset and ability to handle unforeseen field challenges.
More than 5–10 years of offshore, marine and deployment engineering experience.
Generalist with broad technology interests and interdisciplinary focus.
Excellent English communication skills; open and social personality.
Structured and independent way of working; strong project management affinity.
Willingness to travel abroad.
Eligibility to obtain NATO/Dutch security clearance.

Responsibilities

Lead offshore deployment projects and develop marine system architectures.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on deployment plans and objectives.
Design and refine deployment and installation plans; discuss with end users and partners.
Contribute to the engineering soundness of deliveries; support in‑field deployment and operations.
Coordinate with hardware and software R&D, focusing on user experience of sensors.
Travel up to 40% of the time.
