Job summary

Optics11 Life in Amsterdam is seeking a Marine Structures Development Engineer to lead the OptiBarrier marine structures subsystem from concept through offshore deployment.

You will design offshore and subsea frames, lifting provisions, and interfaces, ensuring manufacturability, corrosion resistance, and reliable operation. You will collaborate with product, verification, and fabrication partners to deliver robust solutions and support system integration.

Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in Mechanical/Structural/Marine/Offshore/Naval Architecture.
  • Min. 5 years building offshore/marine structural systems.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks; able to produce drawings and docs.
  • Experience with welded steel structures and subsea hardware.
  • Collaborates with fabrication partners and cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Fluent in English; eligible for EU/NATO security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development of the OptiBarrier marine structures subsystem through design to offshore deployment.
  • Design offshore and subsea structural solutions for frames, lifting, and interfaces.
  • Translate requirements into reliable structural designs with required performance.
  • Develop prototypes, perform analyses and testing to improve robustness.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for system integration and product realization.
  • Coordinate with fabrication suppliers and offshore contractors for FAT and installation.
  • Define structural specs, documentation, calculations, and technical reports.
  • Identify risks and perform trade studies; implement design improvements.
  • Support offshore deployment with handling, lifting, and transport solutions.
  • Share knowledge and improve engineering processes.
