Job summary

Phosphoenix B.V. is developing a groundbreaking neuroprosthetic system to restore functional vision for people with profound blindness. We are seeking a Senior Medical Implant Engineer to design, develop and industrialise implantable neurotechnology.

You will work on miniaturised implants with hundreds to thousands of electrode contacts, translating ambitious concepts into robust, manufacturable medical devices for preclinical and clinical use. Join a fast-moving MedTech team in Amsterdam.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Microengineering or a related technical discipline.
• Several years of relevant experience in medical-device, biomedical, microtechnology or other high-tech product development.
• Strong hands-on engineering skills and the ability to translate complex technical problems into practical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise implantable medical-device components, including probes based on flexible and miniaturised materials.
• Translate concepts into manufacturable devices from concept through prototype to controlled production.
• Write and maintain design specifications, drawings and development records for controlled medical-device development.
• Coordinate internal and external prototyping, manufacturing and production activities.
• Manage suppliers and ensure technical requirements are defined and met.
• Support verification and quality control activities for prototypes and devices.
• Contribute to design inputs/outputs, risk management, verification/validation, and change control.
