Senior Model Validator - Compliance & Transaction Monitoring

Location: Amsterdam (1 day per week on-site)

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient professional to join our clients Compliance and Transaction Monitoring (TM) team as a Senior Model Validator. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in mathematics, physics, econometrics, or a related field, who have a passion for ensuring regulatory compliance and optimizing risk management processes.

As a Senior Model Validator, you will play a pivotal role in assessing and validating machine learning models used for transaction monitoring. Your objective will be to ensure these models are designed, implemented, and operating in alignment with internal policies, regulatory standards, and the organisation’s risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate, monitor, and provide expert feedback on the design and performance of TM machine learning models.
• Independently conduct second-line statistical assessments and challenge model outputs.
• Review and assess key TM processes, including model hibernation and peer grouping.
• Translate monitoring results into meaningful insights, contributing to informed risk decisions.
• Develop and define controls for ongoing monitoring of model effectiveness.
• Provide risk-based recommendations and raise awareness through thematic reviews and compliance insights.

Required Qualifications:

• Ideally around 5–10 years of experience within Model Validation.
• Exposure to transaction monitoring or a similar compliance, risk, or audit role.
• Strong technical expertise in machine learning models and statistical analysis.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
