Job summary

Media Distillery, an Amsterdam-based AI software company, seeks an experienced AI/ML professional to build state-of-the-art, production-ready AI-powered video understanding products. You will own features end-to-end, from experiments to deployment, applying LLMs and VLMs with an eye for latency and cost.

You’ll work in a small, senior team on products used by global video services, with hybrid Amsterdam office presence, flexible hours, and a generous training budget.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in applied AI and ML, including generative AI.
• Strong Python skills and experience with PyTorch or similar frameworks.
• Experience applying LLMs or VLMs in real-world products, from prompting to evaluation to fine-tuning.
• Solid backend skills to build and ship a service or API using agentic coding tools.
• Solution-oriented mindset with production experience and maintainability for customers.
• Strong problem-solving skills and rigorous model evaluation.
• Curious and proactive about new models and tools.
• Proficient in English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Work with product, engineering, and sometimes sales or customers to understand needs and build AI-powered products with your team.
• Own features or initiatives end to end, from shaping the approach to delivering results.
• Design and run experiments, evaluations, and benchmarks to show whether a model is ready to ship.
• Train, fine-tune, and distill LLMs and VLMs for video understanding when off-the-shelf models fall short.
• Manage the full model lifecycle from prototype to production with attention to latency and cost.
• Contribute to the ML approach through code/design reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.
