Job summary

eBay in Amsterdam is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to help build advertising and marketing technology in a high-scale environment. You will partner with product, design, analytics, and ML teams to turn business problems into reliable software.

You will own end-to-end delivery of complex features, drive architecture decisions, and apply AI-assisted development practices to accelerate velocity across the stack including Java, Spring Boot, RESTful services, and data pipelines.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Computer Science or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience with scalable backend systems and RESTful APIs.
• Strong background in distributed systems and messaging queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
• Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and big data tools is a plus.
• Experience leading system design and evaluating tradeoffs on performance and cost.
• Exposure to GraphQL and AI-assisted development is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of complex features from design through production.
• Drive system design and architectural decisions with cross-functional teams.
• Develop scalable backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Build scalable applications across frontend and backend technologies (Marko, React, Node.js, Java, Scala).
• Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate engineering velocity with ML partners.
• Mentor peers and contribute to a culture of learning and technical excellence.
