Job summary

Ascent Resourcing Limited is seeking a Senior PHP Developer for a fully remote role based in the UK. You will lead backend development with PHP and Laravel, scale the platform and contribute to product direction.

The role focuses on PHP/Laravel with MariaDB, AWS and React/Next.js, emphasizing performance, testing and reliable architecture. You will own complex features and collaborate with a cross-functional team across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Approximately 5+ years of commercial software development experience with PHP and Laravel.
• Proven background developing and supporting production SaaS applications.
• Strong knowledge of Laravel architecture, APIs, queues, jobs, events and scheduled processes.
• Strong SQL capabilities with MariaDB or MySQL.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and support backend apps and APIs using PHP and Laravel.
• Own new functionality from design through production.
• Create and maintain integrations with CRM and third parties.
• Analyze and optimize MariaDB/MySQL queries and performance.
• Develop background processing and event-driven workflows.
• Contribute to AWS-hosted environment reliability and deployment practices.
• Investigate production incidents and implement fixes.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold engineering standards.
