Job summary

A leading software development company in Utrecht is looking for a Senior Java Backend Engineer to build high-traffic platforms using Java21, Spring Boot, RabbitMQ, Docker, and AWS. Responsibilities include working on scalable microservices and AI integration while mentoring colleagues and contributing to standardization. The role offers a salary of up to €90,000, three days remote work, a travel allowance, and more.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in Java backend development.
• Experience with Java 11+ (preferably Java 17 or 21) and Spring Boot.
• Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS is a plus) and containerisation (Docker).
• Understanding of architecture design (microservices, event-driven, etc.).
• Experience with CI/CD and test automation.
• Interest in AI applications is a strong plus.
• Experience mentoring or coaching colleagues is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Join an agile development team to scale and optimize a new platform built from scratch.
• Work on scalable microservices and event-driven systems processing huge volumes.
• Contribute to domain modelling, API design, and data consistency within distributed systems.
• Help define standards, ensure clean code and test automation.
• Collaborate on AI integration in the platform.
• Grow toward leadership with potential for Tech Lead.
