Job summary

X2 Nations seeks an experienced IT & Business Analyst (Freelancer) to bridge business stakeholders and IT teams. You will translate business needs into detailed system requirements for Clinical Development and Cell Therapy operations, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose.

This hybrid freelance role requires presence in the Leiden office at least 2 days per week (3 days preferred) and offers collaboration with stakeholders across Technical Operations and IT.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in IT, engineering, or biomedical sciences.
• 5–7 years of relevant IT systems implementation/support experience.
• Experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences environments (GxP knowledge is a plus).
• Strong analytical, structured, and detail‑oriented mindset.
• Hands-on experience with JIRA, BPMN modeling, and business process documentation.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT & Business Analyst (Freelancer) to act as the vital bridge between business stakeholders and IT teams.
The consultant will play a key role in understanding, analyzing, and documenting business processes, translating them into detailed system requirements that ensure solutions are fit for purpose within Clinical Development and Cell Therapy operations.

This hybrid freelance role requires presence in the Leiden office at least 2 days per week (3 days preferred) and offers an opportunity to collaborate directly with stakeholders across Technical Operations and IT.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirements Management

Understand, analyze, and challenge business needs, translating them into structured sets of requirementsfrom business-level to functional specifications.

Ensure business requirements align with the overall Systems & Technology (S&T) architecture and strategy.

Represent business needs in operational and governance meetings to ensure proper translation into system design and delivery.

Capture and translate business processes (BPMN) into clear system requirements using JIRA for documentation and traceability.

Ensure all requirements comply with GxP, GDPR, and CSV policies as applicable.

Solution Design & Process Optimization

Collaborate with technical teams to translate business workflows into IT system functionality and testing plans.

Propose process improvements and system enhancements aligned with business strategy and compliance standards.

Support business case creation, budgeting, and portfolio management activities for ongoing IT initiatives.

Create mockups, process diagrams, and visual flows to guide stakeholders toward shared understanding of solutions.

Operational Support & User Engagement

Support business users through operational tasks to strengthen understanding of systems and business needs.

Participate in training sessions for tools and applications developed by the S&T team.

Help maintain backlogs to track business requirements and ensure delivery alignment.

Provide service-oriented support, resolving issues proactively and efficiently.

Work closely with IT, business partners, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of system solutions.

Maintain transparent cross-functional communication to support progress, risk tracking, and change management.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, gathering feedback from users and stakeholders to enhance systems and processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Masters degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or Biomedical Sciences, or equivalent experience.

5-7 years of relevant experience in implementing and supporting IT systems.

Experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences environments (GxP knowledge is a plus).

Strong analytical, structured, and detail-oriented mindset.

Hands-on experience with JIRA, BPMN modeling, and business process documentation.

Familiarity with Computer System Validation (CSV) and regulated environments.

Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written).

Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in complex environments.
