We’re seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join our team at our office in 's-Heerenberg, Netherlands.

Your role will involve supporting European regulatory compliance for the Dutch entity, ensuring adherence to financial regulations. Responsibilities include gathering and monitoring financial data, preparing financial statements (balance sheets and income statements).

This is a highly technical role requiring experience in EU accounting and compliance.

This position offers a great opportunity to contribute to building a top-tier finance team, working alongside our UK, European, and US teams on the Huffy and other brands in the United Wheels portfolio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support month-end and year-end closing processes for internal and statutory reporting.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with all relevant financial laws and tax regulations in the Netherlands, Spain, and France, including cross-border transaction implications.
• Prepare and submit Dutch VAT returns, EC sales, Intrastat, and other compliance reports timely.
• Collaborate with external tax consultants to manage tax obligations, planning, and strategy, ensuring accurate and timely tax payments and records.
• Prepare financial statements for the Dutch entity, bringing outsourced tasks in-house.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining internal controls to protect assets and ensure accurate reporting.
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
• Conduct financial analyses to aid decision-making, including variance, profitability, and cost analyses.
• Streamline financial processes to improve efficiency.
• Perform reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
• Assist the Finance Director with cash flow forecasting.
• Support ad-hoc analyses and projects as needed.
• Assist team members with various accounting tasks.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• 5 to 10 years of relevant experience, including accounting and audit expertise; recognized accounting qualification is a plus.
• Deep knowledge of European VAT and compliance laws.
• Familiarity with Dutch, Spanish, and French tax systems is advantageous.
• Strong finance background with ERP experience (e.g., Oracle), technology, data, and process skills.
• Languages: English and Dutch.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with attention to detail.
• Passion for our products and eagerness to learn new skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Office, and ERP systems.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
