Job description

At Catawiki, every day brings something extraordinary. From rare collectibles to iconic memorabilia, millions of special objects pass through our marketplace. Behind the scenes, our Finance team helps keep everything running smoothly as we continue to grow internationally.

We're a one-of-a-kind marketplace for buying and selling special objects. Each week, more than 100,000 unique items are auctioned, all carefully curated by our passionate in-house experts.

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Financial Accountant to join our Accounting & Reporting team. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals who enjoys bringing structure to processes, takes ownership of their work from end to end and is comfortable keeping both the details and the bigger picture in view in a fast-moving international marketplace environment.

You won't just process numbers; you'll help keep our financial backbone strong while contributing to smarter and more scalable Finance processes.

How you'll make an impact

You will become a trusted owner of selected accounting areas and help ensure Catawiki's financial reporting remains accurate, reliable and scalable as the business continues to grow internationally. Beyond the month-end close, you will help strengthen processes, improve reporting quality and partner with stakeholders across Finance and the wider business to solve accounting and reporting challenges.

Your core Accounting & Reporting responsibilities

In this role, you will take ownership of selected accounting areas and contribute to accurate, reliable and scalable financial reporting across Catawiki's international business.

  • Own selected month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and balance sheet reviews
  • Manage accounting areas or entities through the close process with a strong focus on accuracy, completeness and timely delivery
  • Act as a key Finance partner to Payroll, ensuring accurate payroll processing and payment controls
  • Analyse financial movements and variances and provide clear insights to stakeholders
  • Ensure accounting activities are performed in line with internal policies and reporting requirements
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and coordinating follow-ups
  • Work with external accounting partners for foreign entities and support local reporting activities where needed
  • Partner with Finance and business stakeholders to resolve accounting and reporting questions
  • Use Workday Financials in your daily work and support process improvements where relevant
  • Represent Accounting & Reporting in cross-functional projects and assess the impact on Finance processes and controls
  • Proactively identify risks, issues and opportunities for simplification
  • Drive improvements in Finance processes, controls and reporting to support scalable and efficient ways of working

You will gain broad exposure to accounting and reporting in a growing international marketplace.

What makes this role exciting?
  • Broad scope: Exposure to multiple accounting areas, entities, international reporting topics and business initiatives, giving you a clear view of what's happening across Finance and the wider business
  • Ownership: High level of responsibility and autonomy across selected accounting areas
  • Impact: You won't just prepare journals; you'll help translate complex financial activity into reliable insights, strong controls and better business decisions
  • Process improvement: Plenty of opportunity to improve, simplify and automate how Finance works
  • International environment: Work in a growing marketplace with cross-border activities and stakeholders
  • Team collaboration: Join a supportive, down-to-earth Finance team that values ownership, openness and continuous improvement

As Catawiki continues to grow internationally, Finance is evolving alongside the business with increasing focus on scalability, automation and stronger operational insight.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles; IFRS knowledge is a plus
