Job summary

Hitachi Energy seeks a Commissioning Engineer for the Grid Integration team in Rotterdam or Zaventem. This field-based role leads the final phase of projects from pre-commissioning to client handover, ensuring safety, quality and performance in high-voltage environments.

You will collaborate with global teams, mentor staff, and support proposals, contracts, and supply chain activities, with a strong travel requirement across the region and beyond.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in commissioning engineering within industrial or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, quality standards, and project documentation.
• Excellent planning, coordination, and communication skills.
• Leadership ability and a proactive mindset.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the region and occasionally abroad.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage commissioning schedules, manuals, and test procedures.
• Lead pre-commissioning activities and client handover.
• Produce documentation and reports that meet client and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with customers, third-party providers, and government agencies to secure approvals.
• Conduct risk assessments and on-site safety tours; implement mitigation strategies.
• Mentor engineers, technicians, and support staff during commissioning activities.
• Support proposal development, technical sales, and contract scope assessments.
• Coordinate supply chain for commissioning tools and services.
