Job summary

Eneco in Rotterdam is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Platform Engineer for the Core Infra team. You will design, build, and continuously improve Eneco's Azure cloud platform, creating standards and automation that scale across the organization.

Qualifications

The Core Infra team is growing and bringing more infrastructure capability in-house. The cloud foundations you build and improve are a direct enabler of Eneco's mission. As a Senior Infrastructure Platform Engineer in the Core Infra team, you help design, build, and continuously improve the Azure cloud platform used across Eneco. You create the standards, patterns, automation, and capabilities that allow teams to use Azure in a secure, scalable, consistent, and efficient way - and you help teams implement them with technical guidance and support where needed.

This is primarily a platform engineering, enablement, and governance role. You spend most of your time on planning, architecture, and design - translating business and technical requirements into robust cloud solutions. You also contribute hands‑on to implementation and improvement. Day-to-day operational execution is handled through established service and support arrangements.

Must have

• Strong hands‑on Azure experience, preferably gained in an enterprise environment working on cloud foundations or platform capabilities
• Strong Infrastructure‑as‑Code experience with Bicep, Terraform, and/or ARM templates
• Experience with CI/CD and automation, with Azure DevOps as a primary tool
• Good scripting and development skills using PowerShell, Shell scripting, and Python
• Strong Azure networking knowledge: VNets, subnets, hub‑and‑spoke architectures, routing, connectivity, DNS, firewalls, and related networking components
• Experience designing and implementing secure, scalable, and standardised cloud solutions
• Ability to translate business and technical requirements into cloud architecture, technical designs, implementation plans, and actionable work
• Experience working with internal customers, architects, security teams, and external technology partners
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills - able to lead or contribute effectively to technical discussions and project work
• A proactive mindset toward automation, standardisation, governance, security, reliability, and cost optimisation

Good to have

• AWS (Amazon Web Services) and/or OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) experience or certification
• Experience with cloud architecture or platform engineering in a large enterprise environment
• Experience defining cloud standards, reference architectures, landing zones, or reusable platform patterns

You are a cloud engineer who is comfortable going deep into Azure but can also step back, understand the bigger picture, and explain technical choices to people with different backgrounds. You like creating standards and reusable solutions rather than solving the same problem repeatedly. You are pragmatic and hands‑on when needed, but your biggest impact comes from planning, designing, enabling, and improving the cloud platform. You can challenge assumptions constructively, communicate clearly, and turn complex requirements into solutions that teams can actually use.

You join Eneco's Core Infra team - a growing group bringing more infrastructure capability in-house. You work closely with engineers, architects, security specialists, product teams, and external partners across the Digital & Tech organisation. Your work supports everything from Finance and HR to Operations and Logistics. We work hybrid - focused days from home combined with collaboration days at Eneco's Rotterdam headquarters.

• Shape the Azure platform. You will have direct influence over how Azure is designed and used across Eneco. Your work creates the foundations and standards that enable engineering teams throughout the organisation - not just for one project, but for everything that runs on top of it.
• Architecture meets engineering. This is not a role focused on tickets and day‑to‑day operations. You spend most of your time planning, designing, improving, and enabling - while still getting hands‑on when implementation requires it.
• Work across teams and partners. You sit at the centre of cloud initiatives, connecting internal customers, architects, engineers, and external partners. You turn requirements into scalable solutions and make sure those solutions fit the wider platform.
