Job summary

Priva in De Lier near Rotterdam and The Hague is shaping an IoT-driven platform for climate control and building automation. As Embedded Staff Engineer, you will guide architecture and implement scalable services on embedded devices, edge gateways and cloud components to ensure safe, reliable operation for buildings over many years.

You will lead design decisions, mentor teams, and collaborate with hardware, cloud and QA to deliver high-quality software in modern C++ on Linux.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Embedded Software Engineering (C++ / Linux).
• Strong expertise in modern C++ (C++17 or later).
• Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
• Experience with multi threading, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Experience with distributed or service-oriented systems.
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as MQTT, CAN, Serial.
• Experience working in resource-constrained environments (real-time systems).
• Ability to review, challenge, and improve architectural decisions.
• Strong debugging and system-level problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in cross-functional and international teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded software in modern C++ (C++17 or later) on Linux.
• Build scalable, modular, and configurable control components.
• Implement deterministic and real-time control strategies.
• Develop robust 24/7 runtime systems for real-world environments.
• Create simulation environments and automated test frameworks.
• Lead technical design principles for embedded teams and align with our embedded architects on fit within overall architecture.
• Ensure quality solutions by leading the definition and adherence to technical design and coding guidelines.
• Promote craftsmanship, quality gates and responsible AI practices across our embedded engineering community.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, cloud, QA).
