Job summary

CowManager is seeking a Firmware Engineer to design, develop and optimize firmware for its sensor systems and network components. You will work across bare-metal and RTOS environments, using C and Python to build energy-efficient embedded software.

The role involves collaboration with hardware, software and product teams in a fast-growing, global company. The office is located on a working dairy farm in Harmelen, NL, offering opportunities for innovation, deep technical work and personal growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a similar field.
• At least 5 years of experience in embedded software development.
• Strong knowledge of C and Python.
• Experience with low-power embedded systems.
• Experience with wireless communication protocols (802.15.4, Zigbee, Bluetooth).
• Experience with bare-metal development and RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, Embedded Linux).
• Ability to read and understand electronic schematics.
• Experience with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain firmware for sensors and network components.
• Develop software primarily in C and Python.
• Work on energy-efficient embedded solutions and wireless protocols.
• Develop software for bare-metal systems and RTOS platforms.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, QA and product teams.
• Contribute to architecture choices and future technical developments.
• Support testing, validation and quality improvements.
