Job summary

Booking.com in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Direct Tax Controller to lead global tax accounting and direct tax compliance across regions. You will guide current and deferred income tax calculations, ET rate, and collaborate with the US tax team and Finance functions.

The role emphasizes leadership, coaching, and driving process improvements while coordinating with global teams. Hybrid work from Amsterdam HQ is offered to support performance and development.

Qualifications

• University degree in Dutch Tax law or fiscal economics/Accounting, Business, Economic; RA/CPA is a plus.
• Approx. 10+5-7 years of finance and/or accounting experience, preferably in tax accounting and multinational environments.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience in multinational matrix organizations.

Responsibilities

• Manage global tax accounting, income tax filings, and return-to-provisions.
• Lead current income tax calculation (current and deferred) and effective tax rate computations.
• Drive standardization, automation, and simplification of tax-related processes (cost allocation, intercompany recharges, compliance).
• Identify and prioritize process improvements impacting accounting and finance daily activities.
• Partner with Financial Controllers and Tax Managers daily to align on priorities.
• Provide coaching and development for team members on tax and compliance tasks.
• Act as escalation point for complex direct tax accounting and compliance matters.
• Represent the Direct Tax Accounting team in cross-functional strategic projects.
