Position Summary:
The Senior Developer Content Marketing and Communications Specialist will be a key individual contributor within the Partner Marketing and Communications team, owning critical components of the developer content strategy and contributing cross-team. This role is instrumental in modernizing the Bentley Developer Network (BDN) program by developing and leading the execution of compelling content and communications that resonate with individual developers, startups, academic institutions, and technology partners.
Responsibilities:
- Developer Program Content Strategy & Communications Leadership:
- Lead the development of internal and external communications assets, content, and messaging strategies that build awareness of and drive engagement with developer-focused events, including hackathons, Developer Days, and workshops. All content developed will align with the strategic direction and program models defined by the Developer Community Events and Program Manager, who coordinates these events.
- Partner strategically with the Developer Community Events and Program Manager to plan, source, and create marketing and communications content that actively fosters developer community engagement and provides clear pathways for continued participation with Bentley.
- Own the content strategy and editorial calendar components for developer programs, ensuring alignment with broader ecosystem growth objectives.
- Drive the creation of key content assets for BDN modernization initiatives, including website copy, e-book content, and announcement materials.
- Advanced Technical Content Development & Storytelling:
- Lead the creation of technical and marketing content and promotional assets that support the developer community and broader ecosystem goals, leveraging technical input from Business Development Leads and Technical Content Leads.
- Translate complex technical concepts related to APIs, SDKs, developer tools, and platform capabilities into clear, compelling narratives and user-friendly content, such as advanced tutorials, in-depth case studies, and thought leadership articles.
- Developer Journey & Ecosystem Content Ownership:
- Coordinate and optimize content contributions for the community platform and experience, ensuring a cohesive and intuitive developer journey aligned with the community strategy established by the Developer Community Events and Program Manager.
- Influence within the team and across immediate stakeholders to align content initiatives with broader strategic goals.
- Significantly contribute to dedicated ecosystem campaigns by developing content that integrates developer narratives and achievements, providing content that highlights "industry-specific challenges and partner solutions".
- Data-Driven Content Optimization & Innovation:
- Implement and refine new content and communications tactics informed by the program data and analytics managed by the Developer Community Events and Program Manager, continuously optimizing for reach, engagement, and conversion within the developer community.
- Improve existing content systems and processes based on performance insights.
- Manage the full lifecycle of developer content promotion and distribution across all relevant channels, ensuring maximum impact.
- Cross-Functional & Ecosystem Communications:
- Act as the primary content resource for developer programs, collaborating with Internal and External Communications to ensure consistent messaging and amplify developer-focused content across all channels.
- Work closely with Product Marketing, Developer Relations, and Corporate Marketing to align developer content with overarching product and corporate strategies.

Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 4+ years of proven experience in content marketing, developer relations, technical marketing, or ecosystem marketing.
- Demonstrated experience in owning components of content strategy and execution for developer-focused programs, technical communities, or platforms.
- Proven ability to translate complex technical information into accessible and engaging marketing content independently.
- Skills:
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse developer audiences.
- Advanced business context regarding software, SaaS, developer ecosystems, or infrastructure technology.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and operate independently.
- Ability to solve moderately complex content and communications problems.
- Analytical mindset to interpret program data and optimize content performance.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Business, or a related technical field.
What Success Looks Like:
After 6 Months:
- A clear developer content strategy and editorial calendar for developer-focused events and programs are established, fully aligned with the Developer Community Events and Program Manager’s program strategies.
- Key internal and external communication assets for BDN modernization are developed and actively deployed.
- Consistent content contributions are flowing to the community platform, actively enhancing the developer journey.
- Stakeholders consistently recognize this new role as the primary content resource for developer programs.
After 12 Months:
- Bentley's developer community shows increased awareness and engagement with programs and content, as evidenced by metrics shared by the Developer Community Events and Program Manager.
- The developer content strategy is clearly differentiated, contributing to increased BDN awareness and adoption.
- Content production for developer programs is more consistent, strategic, and impactful, leveraging data-driven insights for continuous improvement.
- Bentley is increasingly recognized as a leader in developer ecosystem engagement due to compelling and consistent communications.
