Job summary

i3D.net is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to own MariaDB/MySQL platforms across its global infrastructure. You will design, build, and operate highly available database services, automate operations with IaC, and collaborate with DevOps, platform, and application teams to ensure fast, reliable production workloads.

You will manage multi-node clusters, implement monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana, and contribute to security and backup strategies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience managing production database platforms, preferably MariaDB, MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Experience operating Linux systems in on-premise or hybrid environments, with troubleshooting across storage, networking, and resources.
• Automation and IaC experience using Ansible and Terraform.
• CI/CD integration of databases and collaboration with application/platform teams; GitHub Actions is a plus.
• Monitoring/observability with Prometheus and Grafana to track health, performance and capacity.
• Collaborative mindset with documentation and tooling improvements in platform/SRE teams.
• Hybrid work model with onsite Rotterdam office; relocation supported forEU residents.

Responsibilities

• Design and build database platforms that are highly available, scalable, and compliant with platform standards.
• Operate and optimize multi-environment database clusters, including replication, backups and performance tuning.
• Automate database provisioning, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance via IaC.
• Own Linux systems running database workloads, handling day-to-day ops and tuning in bare metal and hybrid setups.
• Integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines for safe, repeatable deployments.
