Job summary

Backbase is seeking a Database Engineer to optimize our data infrastructure powering the world’s leading digital banking experiences. You will diagnose and resolve complex database performance issues, ensuring our platform runs at peak efficiency for global customers.

You’ll guide development teams on database design and performance, test PoCs, and work with cloud efforts to deliver scalable solutions, while communicating findings to diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Solid experience with large (100TB+), highly available, high-transaction databases, with MySQL as a must-have.
• Experience working with Cloud databases, either AWS or Azure.
• Deep knowledge of database fundamentals and architectures, plus SQL performance review and optimization.
• Familiarity with standard edition tools for performance measurement, analysis, and optimization.
• Experience with developing tools and methodology for isolating performance issues.
• Ability to coordinate, plan, and manage complex technical solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex subjects to a wide audience.

Responsibilities

• Explain complex findings to a variety of technical audiences.
• Test PoC products to ensure they achieve ambitious goals.
• Ensure overall software quality, scalability, and performance.
• Work closely with cloud solutions team on MVP and launch.
• Act as a consultant to internal development teams and educate them on performance.
