Job summary

Flow Traders in Amsterdam seeks a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join the Data Platform team in our Amsterdam office. You will build and run the platform that is the source of truth for proprietary research data, enabling traders and analysts to access trusted data quickly and safely.

You will work with quants and researchers, own performance at scale, design data models, manage storage and processing, and contribute to governance and AI tooling.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating data platforms in production.
• Strong fundamentals in storage, query execution and distributed systems.
• Ability to trade off latency, cost, and simplicity with defendable rationale.
• Experience with data modelling and warehousing (BigQuery/ClickHouse).
• Hands-on with distributed storage, messaging, batch and stream processing, and container orchestration.

Responsibilities

• Own performance at scale for data platform infrastructure.
• Build and maintain platform capabilities for self-provisioned compute, scheduling and transformations.
• Make hard design calls on data modelling and storage formats.
• Run and improve reliability, cost efficiency and incident response.
• Develop data governance tools (catalogue, lineage, access control, data quality).
• Collaborate with AI tools and agents to ensure reliable data context for models.
