Job summary

DataSnipper in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Data Platform team. You will own ingestion, modeling, and enablement, shipping AI-ready data products across the company.

In a small, high-ownership team, you will shape the technical direction for ingestion, dbt pipelines, and data contracts, collaborating with Customer Success, Product, and GTM to turn data into trusted insights. Qualifications

• 7+ years in data engineering or similar backend/platform role.
• Deep SQL and strong Python, with performance tuning in a cloud warehouse.
• Production experience with Snowflake and dbt Cloud.
• Experience with event-driven ingestion and handling schema drift, duplication, and backfills.
• Cloud infrastructure experience (Azure) and governance at scale.
• Solid data modeling fundamentals and ability to defend modeling decisions.
• Excellent English communication with stakeholders.
• Experience in a startup or scale-up environment as an early data team member.
• Bias to action, ownership, and prioritization in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the event ingestion architecture end to end - Azure Event Hub, Snowpipe, Fivetran, and related libraries.
• Build and operate dbt transformation pipelines as volume and complexity grow.
• Define and enforce event contracts and schemas for cross-team instrumentation.
• Build reverse ETL paths to push data into business tools like HubSpot, MongoDB, Postgres, and GTM.
• Evolve core data models (event, user, license, company) used across the stack.
• Own Snowflake performance and cost, manage data platform debt and compliance obligations.
• Ingest and model new data sources from product backends, MongoDB, HubSpot, billing, and more.
• Build guardrails and tooling for product teams to create events, models, and dashboards.
• Contribute to semantic/context layers for consistent metrics across BI, dashboards, and AI agents.
