Job summary

Gazelle Global seeks a Senior Data Engineer BI to join a multidisciplinary data team in Utrecht. You will manage the full data lifecycle in Microsoft Azure, from sourcing data to delivering production-ready BI solutions. Expect building Data Vault models, data marts, and supporting Power BI dashboards.

The role requires 7+ years of data engineering, HBO/WO degree, and strong Snowflake, Python, SQL skills. You will work in a hybrid setup with ~50% remote and 2 days/week in the Utrecht office,

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Data Engineering experience required.
• Strong experience with Snowflake, Python and SQL.
• Experience with Data Warehousing and BI development processes.
• Experience with data integration and deployment automation/CI-CD.
• Excellent Dutch communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Familiarity with GDPR/data compliance and TOGAF is a plus.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer BI to join a multidisciplinary data team focused on building data and BI solutions that support operational decision-making.

You will work within a Microsoft Azure cloud environment, taking responsibility for the full data lifecycle — from integrating new data sources and building pipelines through to data modelling, Data Vault development, data marts and production-ready BI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate and onboard new data sources.


• Transform data through Raw, Business Data Vault and Data Mart layers.


• Design and develop effective Data Warehouse (DWH) solutions.


• Build and maintain end-to-end data pipelines from source to end user.


• Develop robust, maintainable code with appropriate data-processing and data-quality controls.


• Create data models and analyse source data.


• Support the development of Power BI dashboards and define technical specifications.


• Test solutions and proactively identify data-quality issues.


• Ensure solutions are properly tested, documented and successfully deployed into production.


• Document metadata, data flows and other technical information.


• Contribute to the development of the wider Microsoft Cloud/Azure environment.


• Troubleshoot production issues and communicate effectively with stakeholders.


• Share knowledge and coach other members of the team.


• Work closely with Business Analysts, Data Engineers, Information Analysts, Power BI specialists, the Scrum Master and Product Owner.


• 7+ years of recent Data Engineering experience.


• Completed HBO or WO degree or equivalent.


• Strong experience with Snowflake, Python and SQL.


• Strong experience with Data Warehousing and BI development processes.


• Experience with data integration.


• Experience with deployment automation / CI/CD.


• Experience using Git/version control.


• Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.


• Experience within a large-scale organisation of 5,000+ employees/workplaces.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch.


• Able to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.


• Proactive approach to continuous improvement and innovation within BI/data environments.

Working Setup

This is a hybrid position based in Utrecht, with approximately 50% remote working. The team works from the Utrecht office for a minimum of 2 days per week.
