Job summary

Rotate is a Utrecht-based software and analytics company transforming the air cargo and logistics industry. We seek a Senior Data Engineer to collaborate with PMs, POs, and customers to design data platforms that deliver real business value and scalable insights.

You will lead technical initiatives, mentor colleagues, and build robust data pipelines while promoting best practices across cloud, data mesh, and CI/CD. Join a diverse team shaping our data-driven culture.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field with 7+ years of software/data engineering experience.
• In-depth understanding of data lake architectures and experience implementing data mesh is a plus.
• Experience across cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience in orchestration technologies (Airflow, AWS Step Functions).
• Excellent knowledge of programming languages (Python, Scala, SQL).
• Hands-on experience in deployment (Docker, container registry, K8s).
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, Gitlab CI).
• Technical expertise with data modeling and mining techniques.
• Experience with the Apache Hadoop ecosystem (Kafka, Spark, Hive).
• Experience with data warehousing technologies (Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Synapse).
• Experience provisioning Infra-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Experience with logging/monitoring for platforms/pipelines.
• Experience with data governance/MDM/data quality is a plus.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll be working directly with PM, PO, and customers to help build products which drive real business value for our customers. You’ll work in small team, in a very international context, with the ability to voice ideas, experiment, mentor others and help shape our technical culture.

We provide cloud-based software and analytics, world-leading market data, and data-driven strategy consulting. Our clients include top-tier airlines, airports, freight forwarders, governments, shippers, investors, and other industry stakeholders.

Founded in 2022 by a core team of former aviation strategy consultants, Rotate has grown rapidly. We now have offices in the Netherlands and Malaysia and a diverse team of around 50 professionals, including strategy consultants, data scientists, software developers, and data engineers. • Be a confident self-starter! Independently plan, design, code, debug and test major features, ensuring issues are identified early and requirements are delivered

• Identify technical areas for improvement and create business cases for improvement

• Design, implement and manage data pipelines that ingest vast amounts of data from various sources

• Enhance end-to-end workflows with automation, CI/CD processes, proper orchestration and monitoring

• Experience (and understand the importance of) implementing proper platform/pipeline logging and monitoring

• Experience with data governance initiatives and/or integrating data quality/data catalogue/MDM solutions a plus
